Say hello to your success stories. Each case study tells a different story of what we do
The Dawood group required a solution for its major operations all across Pakistan, taking a start from Lahore. They wanted a surveillance system at their Dawood Chemicals ammonia plant outside Lahore. Being operated remotely, there were thefts taking place at the site and staff was not handling responsibilities well. A similar production lag was felt at the Dawood Lawrencepur factory situated in Lahore. The head office in Lahore had to be secured as well and all sites had to be monitored centrally. The head office in Karachi had to be secured as well.
The ammonia factory and Lawrencepur garments factory are connected to the Lahore head office via a 1MB radio link. The Karachi head office is connected to Lahore through a 512KB dedicated Internet link.
A variety of Axis cameras were installed at the Dawood Chemicals factory. From Axis 206's inside the building, 211's outdoor at the various entry exit points to the 232D's on the towers for a view of the entire factories operations at day or night. Milestone XProtect Professional is installed on the server residing at the plant, which is then remotely monitored from the head offices at Lahore and Karachi as and when required using the remote client. The server at the plant makes use of motion recording and thus with a terabyte of storage, saves over a months recording for all cameras at a suitable frame rate. Apart from that, the axis cameras are also wired with the alarm system.
The performance and efficiency of the management and staff have drastically improved after the installation of the security system. Since the live cameras can be viewed and their respective recordings be seen from both Lahore and Karachi, senior management can keep track of important events and issues that take place at the plant. Clients are given a tour of the plant without actually requiring a visit.
The aim of CDC is to operate as a central securities depository on behalf of the financial services industry so as to contribute to the country's ability to support an effective capital market system which will attract institutional and retail level investors from Pakistan and abroad.
CDC recently constructed new offices in Hyderabad, Lahore and Islamabad with Headoofice in Karachi, with state of the art equipment. The purpose was to enter a new technological era and change the traditional ways of financial transactions. An advance security system was required which would advocate technology in the premises.
21 Axis 206 cameras were installed at all the staircases, lifts and sensitive points within the building, and the outside perimiter was guarded with 6 Axis 211 which delivered a sharp, high resolution images in daylight and at night time as well. The load was distributed on two Xeon machines so as to give greater processing power, control and storage for the cameras. Motion recording was used for areas where motion would seldom take place.
The security staff, which was not familiar with the use of computers, was quick to get a grasp of the simple and easy to use Milestone XProtect Professional. They take immediate action whenever a suspicious activity is noted thanks to the quick browse feature available on the monitor, and later make a collection of AVI's, which is then burned on a DVD at the end of the month and archived.
With the growing opportunity Pakistan has to offer in the banking sector, Dubai Islamic Bank has recently launched its operations with two branches, and plans of further expanding the banks reach all over Pakistan .
With security and surveillance in mind the Dubai Islamic Bank required a solution that would aid management to effectively secure the sites. With plans to open more branches, the solution would have to be expandable with time and without heavy costs.
Currently, the bank had two branches in close proximity and one head office. The branches had a total of 25 cameras installed at the cash counters, the ATM machines and all entry exit points. The head office had 16 cameras installed at required locations. The solution required had to be cost effective and yet deliver superior quality and performance in terms of video footage.
With Milestones functionality and feature list Dubai Islamic Bank attained all their requirements with ease, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Unlike a DVR based system, the software can record up to 64 cameras on a single machine, which being a dual Xeon is still a cheaper solution than the DVR's that would be used to record 64 cameras.
The solution was provided by Astaa Technologies, Milestone Partners in Pakistan . Astaa Technologies is the company that pioneered the concept of ip surveillance in Pakistan . Being partners with Axis Communications, Sweden , Astaa Technologies has provided a solutions to a range of industries including the banking, industrial, government and retail sectors.
Milestone Xprotect is installed on two server machines one at the main branch which is close to the other branch, and one at the head office. The existing IT infrastructure is used with the IP cameras and managed networks. This has saved on the cost and hassle of installing a separate coaxial network, which would have been an impossible task since the cameras were installed after the completion of the site itself. The security officer and bank manager view the cameras and the recordings from the client software while the server is managed by the IT officials who manage the network. Recordings from the branch are archived on a daily basis at the head office so as to secure the footage. If a client has objections against the transaction, the respective footage is viewed directly at the main office and the video burnt on a CD is filed with the client's documents.
The advance features of the remote client not only allows the managers to monitor all their cameras, each manager can be given restricted access to cameras.
Since the bank already has a well managed network established for its banking operations and a collection of servers and computers, the installation of IP cameras avoids the costs for cabling, monitoring and recording machines that would be required as a separate installation at each site.
The client software features ensure that personnel of varying designation can get access to limited features of cameras of their concern, so if a security manager has access to cameras from multiple branches, the branch manager would only have access to cameras of his or her respective branch.
